2008 | Embach – 1st place
An existing, approx. 200-year-old stable building with monument protection shall be repurposed for the creation of a new cultural centre for Embach.
On the ground floor, a new prayer and meditation space will receive a lofty atmosphere compliant with the usage via newly installed cob construction walls and horizontal light slats. On the upper floor, a room with flexible usage and allocated annex space will allow for various types of use.
Through an inward-facing glass wall, natural lighting and views of the original block construction with its characteristic incidence of light are possible.
Outside, with the exception of a newly installed opening, the intake of new materials and other architectural procedures was deliberately abstained from.
